Training

If you are new to running or walking and want to prepare for the Sea FM Bay to Bay 12km Fun Run then here are some things you can do.

Train with some kindred spirits

More than 100 Terrigal Trotters of all ages, genders and abilities meet every Saturday morning at 6:00am at the Terrigal Surf Club for a run or walk. You definitely don't have to be an experienced runner or walker to come along and have some fun and get some good exercise as well. It's a good place to meet people who can offer you training advice and to exercise with people of similar abilities. You can learn more about Terrigal Trotters at www.terrigaltrotters.com.au

Contact a coach at Terrigal Trotters

Get some advice on the training appropriate for someone of your ability. Dave Byrnes, who is a registered coach with the Australian Track & Field Coaches Association, can be contacted by e-mail at dave@davebyrnes.com.au or by phone at 0428 880784.

Look for advice on-line

There are a number of websites on line that offer training tips and advice for beginners and novice runners. Although Terrigal Trotters cannot vouch for the quality of any of the advice contained on these websites, you could have a look at the following to get some ideas www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/index.shtml and www.halhigdon.com. Read the medical advice provided for runners by Dr Jon, a member of Terrigal Trotters at Dr Jon's Corner.
